The extraction of manganese from a semioxidized manganese ore was investigated with sucrose as the reducing agent in dilute sulfuric acid medium. The kinetics of leaching manganese from the complex ore containing MnCO3 and MnO2 was also investigated. The effects of sucrose and sulfuric acid concentrations, leaching temperature and reaction time on the total Mn (TMn), MnO2 and MnCO3 .

Flotation, magnetic separation and leaching experiments have been carried out for the beneficiation of lowgrade manganese ore. The results indicated that flotation and magnetic separation could improve the grade of Mn concentrate while the recovery was lower. Better recovery of Mn could be achieved by leaching on optimum conditions, % of Mn could be recovered by 30 minutes leaching with ...

Sedimentary rocks have been found to host several Mn minerals in addition to some economic metal values. Besides recoverable Al occurring as gibbsite mineral, the latter include Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, U as well as rare earth elements. In this work, the ore material was subjected to sulfuric acid leaching in the presence of oxalic acid as a reductant to maximize the extraction of Mn.
